Everything you need to brine a holiday turkey: two seasoning packets, a heavy-duty brine bag and the directions. Enough for 1 extra-large turkey or 2 smaller birds.

What's in the kit

  • A small packet of herbs
  • A large packet of brine seasoning
  • A heavy-duty resealable brine bag
  • Step-by-step directions printed on the package

It's a savory, holiday-flavored brine. The label says it best: made for turkey, excellent on all meats. No MSG, naturally gluten free, and made in Texas.

How to brine a turkey with it

You'll need about 1 gallon of water (half hot, half ice-cold), plus extra cold water to cover the bird.

  • Add the small herb packet and 2 quarts of water to a large pot. Bring it to a boil, stirring often, then take it off the heat.
  • Stir in the large seasoning packet until it dissolves, about 1 minute.
  • Add 2 quarts of ice-cold water so the brine is at room temperature or colder.
  • Put the thawed turkey in the brine bag, pour in the brine, and add cold water until the turkey is completely covered. Press out the air and seal the bag.
  • Brine in the refrigerator or an ice-filled cooler for 1 hour per pound of turkey, or overnight. Keep it cold the whole time.
  • Take the turkey out, let it drain and pat it dry with paper towels. Don't rinse it: USDA advises against rinsing raw poultry because it spreads bacteria around the sink.
  • Season with your favorite SuckleBusters rub and cook right away. Cook until the thickest part of the breast reaches 165°F.
