2009 SuckleBusters Wins Gold

SuckleBusters Wins Gold And Bronze At National BBQ Conference

Coppell, TX March 1, 2009 – SuckleBusters Texas Style Sauces and Seasonings (www.sucklebusters.com) struck it rich with two awards at the 18th Annual National BBQ Association’s (NBBQA) Conference &  Expo, held February 17 – 21 in Austin TX. Two barbecue products from SuckleBusters’ growing business earned “Award of Excellence” medals includuing a 1st place gold medal for SuckleBusters Original BBQ Sauce and a 3rd place bronze medal in the hot sauce category for Texas Heat Pepper Sauce.

This year’s competition, considered one of the foremost BBQ events in the BBQ world, drew hundreds of entries from gourmet BBQ food makers from all over the country and Canada. Entries were judged by 65 independent tasters via blind tastings. Contestants were competing for gold, silver and bronze metals in eight BBQ sauce and specialty categories including marinades, hot sauces and condiments.

“We are very excited by the results”, said Dan Arnold, Owner of SuckleBusters, “SuckleBusters was competing with the best of the best from all across the country. We spent over a year developing and refining the BBQ sauce recipe. This is a huge payoff.”

The first place finish marks a significant achievement for a sauce that touts “No Bad Stuff” on the label. SuckleBusters Original BBQ Sauce was designed for consumers looking for all natural products. Instead of high-fructose corn syrup, preservatives or MSG, SuckleBusters dies it the old fashioned way using pure cane juice, vinegar and all natural spices. The recipe also uses about half the salt compared to traditional recipes.

According to Arnold, “This validates our strategy that foods can taste great and be healthy.”

SuckleBusters Texas Heat Pepper Sauce placed third in the hot sauce category. The peppery blend is an all natural sauce and is made using premium spices and contains “No Bad Stuff” as well. All the batches are hand made in Texas. Texas Heat comes in 5 flavors.

Arnold announced that new products are in the works and scheduled for release next month including Texas GunPowder which will come in 3 flavors; Original Jalapeño, Red Jalapeño Pepper and Chipotle Pepper. Texas GunPowder was a very popular seasoning during the 90’s and then the company went out of business after the owner passed away. SuckleBusters recently acquired the trademark and rights to produce the product. “We are bringing it back and better than ever”, said Arnold.
